What Child Care NVQ is About

NVQ in Child care is work related competence-based qualification that aims to inculcate in the holder, the agreed national standards for robust, effective, safe, and exemplary childcare practice.

The standards deals with children developmental issues, learning needs, safety and environmental matters from birth to 16 years of age.

Child care NVQ is organized and taught from foundation grade, level 2, level 3 to level 4.

Level 1 or Foundation Grade is assumed to have been achieved once you can demonstrate that you have worked with children for some time in a supervised capacity. Testing is not usually required.

NVQ Level 2 Child Care

NVQ level 2 child care is assessed at the same level as the CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Children’s Care Learning & Development. It provides a measurable qualification that will enable the holder to take up employment as a crèche worker, playgroup assistant, home nanny, or work in nurseries, children day centres or generally as a child care assistant.

Completing a Level 2 NVQ in childcare will also enable progression to NVQ level 3 in child care or even gunning for a CACHE diploma in nursery with all opportunities that comes with it.

• Must be 16 years or above
• Must have the enthusiasm to work with children
• Must be cleared with the Criminal Records Bureau to work with Children and vulnerable people
• Must be in place like a nursery or play class or school for a minimum of 8 hours a week

4. Building relationships with parents and other caregivers.
